While an expectant mother, I used my gifts as a concert violinist to record a selection of sweet lullabies and quiet songs that I have come to love over the years to share with my newborn son in the first days of his life. Many of these songs are now shared live as I stroll down the hallways of the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit), Special Care Nursery and as I visit young patients and families at KISU (Kids with Immunosuppressed Specialty Unit) and Pediatric units of ECU Health Maynard Children’s Hospital.
During the global pandemic in 2020, I created a virtual “story book concert” called Musical Story Time featuring one of my favorite children’s literature “Miss Rumphius” paired with delightful music by Arthur Benjamin, Edward Elgar and Fritz Kreisler, to share my love of literature, music, and the magic they create together for children and grown-ups alike. Since then, I have shared Musical Story Time Op. 1 “Miss Rumphius” with Azure Family Concerts for families living with autism (virtual viewing); Children’s Museum of Wilmington, NC (live performance), and pediatric and general patients at ECU Health Maynard Children’s Hospital in Greenville, NC.
